Mike Delevante:Pursuing the Muse
September Days feel like years away in July
Nashville’s Mike Delevante joins Pursuing the Muse this week. Mike has been making music for years as part of The Delevantes, but this year marks his first step into a solo spotlight with his debut album, “September Days”.
We discuss what it feels like to step out in his own right with the creation of "September Days" with Mike insisting, "I didn't write that much back in the day." Mike elaborates on the themes of the album and how much of it is about transitions in life and seasons. He explains how the lyrics get melancholy underneath what reviewers sometimes claim sounds upbeat. Mike also goes on to talk about how collaborating with artists such as Garry Tallent and Joe Pisapia helped him gain confidence and make this such a stellar album. Mike also delves into the how the album got released through the new label, Truly Handmade Records and its connection to the Guy Clark Foundation. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
